I  . . . I'm not sure what came over me.  I guess it must have been the town playing tricks again, but I was feeling really strange last week.  I'm really sorry.  Especially to you, Tavros.  We only just met and, um.  You're not even a girl I don't think.  I-I promise I don't actually like any of you, so please don't worry about that kind of thing. 

I mean! Wait!   I do like you, all of you, a lot!  Just  Not.  Um.   You know.  Ah.  Not like...... N-Not ............... I'm just going to apologize and hang up now.

[action]
1.  [It is early Saturday morning and Lucas is walking a dog down the street.  This is standard fare for Lucas's weekends, but Lucas appears significantly more animated than usual as he talks aloud, seemingly to himself.  But actually . . . It's pretty clear he seems to think he's holding a conversation with someone.  The dog is, of course, welcome to tag as well.]

2. [It is early Monday morning on the way to school and there are a few birds sitting on top of Lucas's head and shoulders, tweeting merrily away.  Once again, he appears engrossed in a conversation.]

3. [I'm just going to outright say it.  If you are an animal or own an animal, Lucas wants to talk to you/it.]

4. [In the Mayfield Library, Lucas has a table all to himself and is frowning a little as he concentrates on the task before him.  There are photographs and hand-drawn pictures of people scattered all across -- much more of the latter.  There are at least 30 different drawings, each of probably unfamiliar people.  A blond man with a scarf and a cigarette and a dark-haired young woman feature prominently among them.  ....What Lucas appears to be doing is fitting these pictures into an elegant notebook of some sort.]

[Lucas is constantly in the park. For the purposes of setting, let's say Lucas is heading there with his sketchbook to practice drawing as he does every day or every other day. Arslan is nearby his usual bench . . . ]

Ah, excuse me. . . . Will you be needing that seat?

It's been a long time since it was this warm. I think spring is probably around the corner . . .

[That's a little bizarre. Lucas, being from a world where there is only one landmass and a tiny one at that, can't really understand this although he's been told about it in school.]

That means . . . you're to the south, right?

I don't know actually... I just know it's always warmer where I live. I forget where Miss Susan said the location was for this place.

We've got spring, summer, winter, and fall, uh-huh. Spring is coming next, which is why it's getting warmer. The snow should be gone soon.

[Lucas looks up at the sky briefly and notices that there is a rather large shape that isn't usually there. But he doesn't say anything about it.]

The sun is getting stronger . . .

[Arslan nods] We get rain of course, but snow is different. A few people were rather amused at me not knowing what it was.

[Said shape will now descend, waiting till Arslan holds an arm out to perch. A make-shift band has been settled onto the area Azrael is at to keep Arslan from being cut.]

[Lucas cuts himself off as the shadow descends. He blinks.]

Oh! I was wondering about that. . . . She's not Mayfield's, is she?

No, not at all. This place is very small, and there isn't a lot to do, so it's nice to talk to others. Besides, I don't usually get to talk to people freely.

Oh. [Arslan looks over at Azrael, who just seems content to stay on his arm] I doubt he minds either. I bring him out so he can spread his wings fully. The houses are too small.

I guess you could say I do. I spent about as much time with them as I did with my friends . . .
