I  . . . I'm not sure what came over me.  I guess it must have been the town playing tricks again, but I was feeling really strange last week.  I'm really sorry.  Especially to you, Tavros.  We only just met and, um.  You're not even a girl I don't think.  I-I promise I don't actually like any of you, so please don't worry about that kind of thing. 

I mean! Wait!   I do like you, all of you, a lot!  Just  Not.  Um.   You know.  Ah.  Not like...... N-Not ............... I'm just going to apologize and hang up now.

[action]
1.  [It is early Saturday morning and Lucas is walking a dog down the street.  This is standard fare for Lucas's weekends, but Lucas appears significantly more animated than usual as he talks aloud, seemingly to himself.  But actually . . . It's pretty clear he seems to think he's holding a conversation with someone.  The dog is, of course, welcome to tag as well.]

2. [It is early Monday morning on the way to school and there are a few birds sitting on top of Lucas's head and shoulders, tweeting merrily away.  Once again, he appears engrossed in a conversation.]

3. [I'm just going to outright say it.  If you are an animal or own an animal, Lucas wants to talk to you/it.]

4. [In the Mayfield Library, Lucas has a table all to himself and is frowning a little as he concentrates on the task before him.  There are photographs and hand-drawn pictures of people scattered all across -- much more of the latter.  There are at least 30 different drawings, each of probably unfamiliar people.  A blond man with a scarf and a cigarette and a dark-haired young woman feature prominently among them.  ....What Lucas appears to be doing is fitting these pictures into an elegant notebook of some sort.]

[Help I'm being kidnapped by a crazy country..... Lucas eventually manages to get on his feet and follows after.]

Oh, you wanna go to the malt shop? I love that place! My friend Taiga works there...

She's not, um, herself, though. Lately.

[Lucas manages to steady himself enough to walk normally after that, and reaches out for his notebooks and drawings. He'd watched very carefully to make sure she hadn't dropped any.]

I was joking, a little, but I don't mind a trip there. I haven't gone since . . . um. Miss Margot and Miss Jessica left.

Ah- _{[ What's he doing? Oh! Taiwan hands over the notebooks and drawings to Lucas. ]} yeah.

She stopped putting sparkles on my ice cream, _{[ she means sprinkles ]} and she suddenly got better at roller skating. Some days ago, she was really mad about something... _{[ a murder, but he doesn't need to know that ] I wonder if that has anything to do with her state now?}

Well, I don't mind going to the malt shop, either. I'm sure she'll come back in a few days.

[He smiles and accepts them back, trying to neatly organize them as they walk.]

_{[ She looks forward and puts her hands behind her back. ]}

When I got here - ah, when I lost my memories - I made a lot of new friends. I was really happy! I can talk to whoever I wanted to, and Teacher can't say anything about it. But I realized that while I was busy making new friends, I didn't spend enough time with the ones I already had.

_{[ she faces him ]} So today I wanna spend time with Lucas!

O-Oh! Ah, it's not fair for me to want you to spend more time with me just because we used to know each other. Um. So you don't have to, you know!

Every friend is important, no matter who they are or how you know them. _{[ For her, even keeping ties with smaller nations goes a long way. She has a hunch it'll be the same with Lucas, even if he's just a kid to her. ]}

Besides, I like getting to know people. So don't worry!

[Lucas seems pretty nice and trustworthy, so Buneary doesn't mind the petting at all. In fact, she makes herself pretty comfortable in his arms as she gets carried along.]

[The little bunny wasted no time in leaping into her trainer's arms, nuzzling Dawn's cheek happily.]

Lucas, did you find her? I was so worried! I came home and found her Pokeball just lying on the floor empty.
